New Haven Adult School offers childcare services for NHAS students while they attend class. Children must be age 3 to 5 years old, and potty trained.

FAQs About Our Childcare Services

Childcare is offered during morning NHAS class times only. Monday –Thursday from 8:30 am - 11:30 am.
Children must be picked up immediately after NHAS classes end.
The children of current NHAS students while they’re attending class. Children must be age 3 to 5 years old, and potty trained. The parent must be on-campus the entire time.
The NHAS adult student must bring the child's birth certificate and immunization record to the Barnard White room B7. You’ll also need to fill out and bring our Childcare Services contract with the rules of childcare and an emergency card. The contract is available here on our website or in our front office (Room W19).
The cost is one voucher per child per day, and per session.

Voucher’s cost:
$1 each, or
7 for $5, or
16 vouchers for $10

Vouchers must be purchased in the NHAS office in room W19.

The parent must present a voucher to the childcare teacher each day when dropping off the child for babysitting.
You'll pay one voucher per day/per class session. In the event that we offer childcare in the evening, you will need a voucher for the morning class and another voucher for the evening class.
No. Parents must provide their child’s own snacks and water/milk or juice each day. We have a refrigerator in the classroom to keep the food fresh.
Classroom activities - Silent activities (reading, coloring, puzzles), classroom play which includes crafts, art, playdough, water/sand play and courtyard play, snack time, and silent reading.

Learning Time - Children will learn their ABCs, numbers, colors, days of the week, months of the year, and how to write their name.
