Mission Statement

The mission of the New Haven Adult School, a center for career and educational training, is to develop and empower every student to meet his or her learning goals by providing a safe, supportive environment, exceptional customer service, and an engaging curriculum that is responsive to the lifelong learner and the changing needs of our diverse community.

SCHOOL-WIDE STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES (SLOs)

New Haven Adult School’s programs empower students to become:

  • Productive life-long learners who demonstrate an increased ability to communicate clearly, collaborate with others, and set and pursue goals.
  • Effective problem solvers who can apply knowledge and skills and use resources, including technology, to become productive members of the community.

PROGRAM-AREA LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLOs)

Students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency at their level in CCR Reading, Writing, Math, Speaking & Listening Anchor Standards.
  • Apply workforce readiness skills to become more productive workers.
  • Gain skills and knowledge across levels and programs to transition to post-secondary education or training.
  • Function more successfully in civic activities.

CAREER EDUCATION

Students will:

  • Set career goals to gain relevant skills for career readiness and demonstrate progress towards them.
  • Demonstrate increased awareness of the professional skills employers want most.
